LEGO Dimensions review
Having got it myself quite recently, I would say it is a fantastic game. If you haven’t heard/don’t know much about it, Lego Dimensions it a bit like Skylanders (surely you’ve heard of that) but in Lego. Once you’ve bought the starter pack, you are able to buy a range of expansion packs. I, myself, have expansion packs including Doctor Who, Mission: Impossible, Stay Puft (from Ghostbusters), Scooby-Doo (well it’s actually my brother’s!), The A-Team’s B.A Baracus, Homer Simpson and a couple of others. Each franchise opens a new portal to their adventure world (for example any Simpsons pack will unlock Springfield) but what is super cool is that any character from any pack can go into that world (we often have Scooby Doo running around with Batman in Jurassic World – it’s crazy!).
There are four different types of Lego Dimensions expansion packs available:
Fun Pack- including 1 character and 1 vehicle / gadget, these are the smallest pack and are the most common
Level Pack – these come with 1 character and 2 vehicles / gadgets and unlock a brand new level specific to that pack
Team Pack- 2 vehicles /gadgets and 2 characters
All these packs unlock the relevant adventure world (a themed area to explore and complete mini quests) but only the level pack unlocks the exclusive level (much larger than an adventure world).
Also available are the relatively new Story Packs – these come with a whole new portals to clip onto your base (replacing the original portal) and allow you to act out the whole film – packs available include Lego Batman Movie, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them and Ghostbusters.
Lego Dimensions are continuously bringing out new sets (much to my Mum’s despair), and there are lots due in 2017: The Goonies Level Pack, The Lego Batman Movie Story Pack & Fun Pack (out already), Lego City Undercover Fun Pack, The Powerpuff Girls (all details tbc), Knight Rider Fun Pack (out already), Harry Potter Fun Pack with Hermione and my favourite: Teen Titans Go! in at least a Team Pack (maybe more like a Fun Pack too), I don’t know all the details yet but the Team Pack will come with at least Raven and Beast Boy.
